Laken + Camille

Back at the beginning of January, I decided I really wanted to try to put together some sort of small styled bridal shoot. I bought this super pretty lace dress, planned It out, my friend Lexie (here’s her website she is also a super talented photographer!) came over and we made a bouquet, and my best friend’s Camille and Laken modeled for me, which worked out perfectly because today is their one year wedding anniversary!

I invited a few other photographers to come and take photos also so I could share all of the fun things I put together, and we had a blast! Seriously the whole night was perfect, and I definitely will be doing this again in the future!

When I first started photography, one thing I loved is that there was such an attitude of “community over competition”, and I was able to connect with so many photographers who helped me grow my business and expand my creativity. I stand firm behind community over competition, and believe that you can learn from anyone, from brand new unexperienced photographers, to florists, to business women, to mothers, to friends. People all around me inspire me everyday in different ways, and I love being able to connect with those I meet. Never underestimate someone because of the outside views you have of them, because everyone has a story and experiences and knowledge that you don’t have, and that you can learn from.

I’m talking way too much, but I had a FUN and inspiring time with this styled shoot, and I hope you enjoy these photos of my best friends!

Also, I made my first film with some footage from this shoot! I learned so much in the process of making this (like: don’t only shoot 3 minutes of footage if you’re making a 1.5 minute film, video editing is so much harder than photography editing, my hands are shakier than I ever realized, cutting to music beats is actually pretty challenging) but I am still so proud of my first little video and am excited to make more!
